Have your scan on a top-of-the-line CT used in the world's best imaging departments. Don't settle for anything less.
The National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) is a screening program using low-dose computed tomography (low-dose CT) scans to look for lung cancer in high-risk people without any symptoms. It aims to find lung cancer early and save lives.
Superscan use the Siemens Force CT at both sites. We're capable of performing NLCSP scans at a radiation dose lower than a standard Chest X-ray examination.
Australians are eligible for the program if they are aged between 50 and 70 years and:
- Show no signs or symptoms suggesting lung cancer (asymptomatic)
- Currently smoke or have quit smoking in the past 10 years
- Have a history of tobacco cigarette smoking of at least 30 pack-years.
To calculate number of pack-years, use an online calculator by clicking here.
Our Siemens Force CT is a world-class CT scanner, capable of performing National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) scans at a significantly lower dose than cheaper, inferior CT scanners used by other private practices in Western Sydney.
We're capable of performing NLCSP scans at a dose lower than a standard Chest X-ray examination. A bold claim that we can back with evidence.
We use industry-leading Lung CAD (Computer-Aided Detection) that's clinically proven to improve the detection of lung nodules, compared to relying on human eyes alone. Our Lung CAD software not only detects nodules, but also provides the most accurate methods of measuring and detecting any changes in size over time (a key factor in determining the risk of nodules).
The first step is to speak to your GP about your interest in the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. Your GP will assess your clinical history and confirm your suitability for the screening program.
If you meet the criteria, you'll be given an imaging request form and you can call or book online for your NLCSP scan at a time convenient for you. You must provide Superscan with your request form.
You do not need to fast for this scan.
All NLCSP scans will be reviewed and reported by Specialist Doctors and we'll send a copy of the results to you, your Doctor and to the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) so that you can receive appropriate advice on any recommended follow-ups.
